Kumihimo Cloak Trim

By Kazetani, April 4, 2014

We have these lovely half circle Moroccan burnoose cloaks that are fleece lined wool.  I decided that a good use for kumihimo would be to make trim for mine, which is black wool with a yellow fleece lining.  This is a 16 tama pattern made with a light yellow, dark yellow and black.

The pattern is a black center lined with light yellow and edged with alternating dark yellow and black diagonals.  I used an entire skein of DMC floss for each tama.  This….was a lot of thread.  So much so that it was started at Games and Dance 2012 and not finished until Yule 2013.  But as you can see in the second picture, the end result was quite a lot.  Seven and a half yards of it, in fact.  I will update this post with a picture of it on the cloak when I get that finished.

What do you think?
